I was too late in amending my post. …
“Sure, I’d rather ride a place such as Snowbird full time. … It’s funny, but my first promising job lead out of college — well, I was still in college — was in Fort Lauderdale. Did a phone interview and completed a test by mail, but I didn’t fly for the in-person because I still had a month or so left of school (and about make a certain. common proposal). I still haven’t stepped foot in Fla. 12 years later. I visit through my stepbrother’s posts on Facebook, and I’m OK with that.”
Man, how different things might have been.

Did you get the discounted season pass for Mt Baldy yet? If not PM me and I will tell you how. I got mine for $79 with a $20 credit for the cafe but think they are $99 now. It is amazing to head out around 7 and be riding on a real mountain (for those that havent been to Baldy it is a real mountain) a little after 9 am. I usually ride until I’m tired, grab lunch and get home in time to pick up my kids from school. If you ever want a driving companion let me know, I like to play hookey every once in a while and head up mid week.sdr[/quote]
Late in posting to this, but I learned to ski at Baldy many years ago when we used to get more rain. Such a fun place. Those switchbacks are tough, though. And of course, when I went there, they didn’t make snow. So if they had snow, you better damn well have chains.
That’s a great deal for season passes.

August 28, 2010 at 9:53 PM #597080briansd1GuestI love snow skiing (still need to take up snowboarding because skiing now for old people). But the slopes are no exactly accessible to So Cal. I’d rather fly to Utah than go to Big Bear (never going back there again).
But in Florida they have great water-skiing on the lakes just a short drive from home. You can see the alligators too.
