Your comments about “frigid” ocean temps here make sense given that you have lived in Hawaii. Growing up here, once water hit 67, I trunked it and thought little of it. 70 is plenty warm for me, even at 33 years old.

I love the winter weather here; just wish there was some more rain/mtn snow. :-). Perfect for hiking. Besides, we can get warm spells pretty much year round. I recall hiking at Santa Rosa Plateau several years ago in January and it reached 90 in afternoon.

We moved a lot when we were kids, too. From NY to Italy. Each year we moved to a different city while in Italy. Then back to the US, temporarily in NJ w/family. Then to California. At the time, I wouldn’t say I loved changing schools and making new friends. But looking back, it’s true that kids adapt. I think if you have a solid foundation, good family life, kids adjust. Having mom stay at home was security for us. I think overall, it’s a good experience and I can appreciate it now.
