May 14, 2014 at 9:48 PM #774053UCGalParticipantThese fires are weird… Not jumping in a pattern that makes sense with the winds. I really hope a firebug isn’t setting them.
May 15, 2014 at 1:34 AM #774056CA renterParticipantI’d bet money it’s an arsonist, or multiple arsonists, setting many of these fires.
May 15, 2014 at 7:23 AM #774059NavydocParticipantWe’ve been a refugee camp the last couple of days for all the relatives in 4S. I got a little scared biking home yesterday when I saw the smoke coming from Scripps Ranch. Lot of fuel over there, glad they got that one out quickly.
May 15, 2014 at 8:40 AM #774066NotCrankyParticipantI am not ready to blame arsonists and am sure Horn shouldn’t have stirred up that pot on television at this time. Could be of course, but there are lots of ways for these things to start. Poor preparedness by the county and utilities could be something not to deflect away from so soon.
Easy for a string of impulsive unrelated copy cats to get a fire bug thing going though. The terrorist have dropped the ball by not jumping on the opportunity…not that I want them too….but they couldn’t screw us more easily. I would think there are better areas to start fires that have a chance of becoming massively destructive , so that kind of rules organized terrorism out .

May 15, 2014 at 2:18 PM #774076spdrunParticipantAlso, I’d imagine that terrorists wouldn’t want their dastardly deeds to be blamed on nature, accident, or hobos cooking dinner. Highly sceptical that it is terrorism — far too subtle for al Qaeda.

I don’t know. But given the magnitude of the fires and the number of them yesterday, I thing the county did a pretty good job dealing with them versus what happened years ago…
It’s really unfortunate some people lost their homes. But I think the numbers were still much lower than before….(I know, we’re still in the fire season)…
May 15, 2014 at 2:33 PM #774081cvmomParticipantThe Bernardo fire burned to within 25 feet of my boss’s property. He said he was very impressed by the fire fighters and their success with keeping the property damage from that one to zilch.
