ParticipantI rent surveying equipment from a place on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Cost about $60 for a day. Takes some math skills and patience, but I find it fun. Being a professional surveyor would be cool, I think.
If the property isn’t too hilly, just try to find your corner posts by digging around or with a metal detector.
If that fails, probably smart just to hire a surveyor. Worth it in the long run to know where your property lines are for many reasons.

I believe that place closed down. Servco I believe. Closed down two years ago. If you want to rent surveying equipment, you gotta go to Escondido.

Guest
If you cross over the neighbor’s property line and they don’t complain for five years, do you get to keep the property under adverse possession?
You may end up with an easement.
I believe that in CA you have to pay the property taxes to get property through adverse possession.
I know people whose’ horse pen has been on someone else’s vacant property for years. No complaint so far.
