Maybe there are more important things than pure cost, like being part of the expungement of fossil-fueled transport from Mother Earth…
August 17, 2018 at 10:40 AM #810707outtamojoParticipantGo test drive a Tesla and then decide…if you go electric there should be a few more viable alternatives coming out in the next year or so.
August 17, 2018 at 10:56 AM #810708FlyerInHiGuestSome people enjoy free parking and charging at work.
August 17, 2018 at 9:23 PM #810717moneymakerParticipantIs charging really free these days? I was under the impression one has to pay nowadays.
August 17, 2018 at 11:06 PM #810718outtamojoParticipantA lot of hotels offer free charging for guests.

10 mile hilly commute feels like an easy stroll, can do it even when exhausted.

That or something like a powerwall to charge during the day so you can charge the car at night? Cost is probably not the good reason to go electric if it is your only reason. There is at least one major improvement coming down the pike in ICE engines that will push efficiency up to around 50-55 mpg for smaller cars.

August 18, 2018 at 11:11 AM #810722spdrunParticipantYep, NIMBY cowards in California are closing clean, efficient nuclear power plants instead of building new ones.

That’s ok, the power plants are further east.
Electric transport will clean up noise and emissions pollution in the cities making them proportionately more desirable than they already are today.

I think it would be cool if cities develop where the majority of people move around on bikes. Ebikes can pull carts to transport large items. Denmark, the Netherlands, potentially China on a big scale.

My 2015 VW Passat TDI that gets 40 mpg freeway is virtually the same price to run as the Tesla model 3 that averages about 3 mi. per KWh.August 19, 2018 at 12:55 AM #810728outtamojoParticipantAh but the instant torque and the feeling of being quicker than just about anything out there….
