Does powayseller post too much?

Long time reader, first time poster here. I check Piggington about once every couple of weeks these days simply because I’m weary of a few contributors (i.e. Powayseller) typing out every thought that passes b/w their ears. Sure, the occasional post adds incremental value to the body of knowledge, but >90% of the time it’s just drivel. I’m actually impressed that someone said something to her.

Powayseller – PLEASE start your own blog so that you may dispense your nuggets of wisdom solely to those whom are actually impressed with your analytical abilities. Either that, or just formally take over Pigginton so that those of us, who are under whelmed by your critical thinking, can have closure and move on. In short, Powayseller, you’re a blog-jacker and, in my opinion, have detracted from the overall usefulness of this website.

Frankly, I am impressed with Powayseller’s research – in both breadth and depth – it is far greater, imho, than most of us would undertake on our own. She pulls from a large number of resources.

Without her postings it seems like this blog would be a rather dull place.

Biker’s suggestion that this is a freedom of speech issue is misplaced.

No one disputes Powayseller’s right to hold the opinion she holds, or express it. We are not trying to prevent her speech, we are saying that a more appreciated forum for her speech would be her own blog.

In China, there might not be a blog at all, or some(many) people might be denied access. Suggesting a more appropriate forum is hardly comparable to such measures. In the end, all that’s been written here is a mere suggestion. Powayseller can continue to post as much and as often as she wants, as long as Rich’s blog is around. However, the users can also debate about what they want the user forum to be used for, and complain if they don’t like the way someone is using it. I would like to see it be more community oriented and less dominated by one person’s voice.

So far this morning, the housing forum page had only 1 thread. Redirect your energies from complaining about me on this off topic thread, to posting some unique and more varied points of view. Why the heck isn’t anyone doing it?

If your goal is truly to improve the quality of the forums, then improve it. Start writing!

I think I can see what’s really going on here on this site. I have been reading Rich’s content for a very long time now, way back when people were still making money hand over fist in RE and a handful of us saw that this just could not go on. We found Rich’s site and finally had proof in graphs and awesome reports Rich had put together to boost our case that the market would not continue on the way it was.
So here we are in Oct of 06 and the Market has clearly taking a turn for the worse with no relief in site for home sellers. So what is there to talk about anymore?
Rich’s prophecies have come true and we don’t need to wonder about where the market is going now days. So now we have to pick on each other and talk about politics, good places to ride a bike, where our friends went and sometimes pick on PS. Does this mean that there’s nothing to talk about anymore? I really miss Rich’s articles but I have a feeling those have gone the way of the 400k condo’s.

Holy Cow!!!! What has happened to this site? Who the hell cares how much Powayseller posts? I am dragging through all these posts… one after another discussing/trashing her… Have you nothing better to write about?

One person said something about it being too difficult to wade through her posts to get to the ones that have been pushed to the bottom.. well HELLO!!!!!! maybe those posts were BORING in the first place and that is why no one responded. The only posts anyone gets interested in here are powaysellers becayue she is the only one sticking her neck out making estimates and guesstimates that need to be disputed or supported. Are you all too retarded to have normal discourse?

As PS keeps writing….. Start your own god-damned threads if you dont like hers… Make them interesting, inflammatory, or insightful enough to have them stay at the top and get responses. Salo_t is right on… I am another who never posts here anymore because it is all coming true (rich’s AND powaysellers predictions) and I have nothing to add anymore. I am not one who has a pile of money from selling a house that I am trying to invest wisely, nor am I one sitting on the sidelines waiting for the market to hit bottom in order to buy. Powayseller is both of these, so she posts a lot… let her post. Ignore if you arent interested… get over yourselves… YOUR CONSTANT BICKERING IS VERY BORING! NOT INTERESTING AT ALL.

I also don’t think it is a “freedom of post” issue. Rather it’s a practical issue. When I visit the site, I browse thru the active list on the right hand side and look at/respond to the ones I find interesting. If there’s nothing there I leave. And I’m guessing that’s what a lot of people do, rather than searching past the active list on to archived ones. When powayseller makes consecutive posts like 10 in a row, it does make it less likely for others to be heard.

Powayseller, you’ve established a fan base here and judging from this thread your new blog shall have no shortage of participants. Perhaps it’s time for you to go solo !

The fan comments is the most ignorant thing said so far. The forum is not a place of worship, and lostkitty has shown herself way too sophisticated to be insulted like that. Like the other 1000 or 2000 people who come here to lurk, lostkitty doesn’t have the time or the interest to start any threads. Every time a woman defends me, she is insulted as being a mindless fan. Get over yourself! hs, lindismith, and lost-kitty are way too intelligent.

Don’t confuse someone’s interest in reading about housing with someone’s interest in the person making the posts. All the lurkers just like the content, and don’t want the posts to stop. They don’t care WHO makes the posts.

Don’t you see what’s really happening? I’m being used, totally. You guys are all out working, earning money, while I work for free, providing you with real estate news. I was the one who explained the median, economic cycles, and much much more. I bring you unique stuff, you get free content, and Rich gets more traffic coming to his site.

By the way, I didn’t see any housing market news in the forums today, just 3 threads that actually belonged in “properties and areas” and “buying and selling real estate”. The complainers lack the ability, I guess, to write about anything intelligent, because they missed all the stuff going on today in the housing news.
