It really doesn’t make sense to me people are talking highly of Obama’s fiscal policy yet they are completely against how their party voted on this bailout. I noticed the ratio with Repubs was much higher voting against the bill.[/quote]ding ding….
That’s why I’m perplexed by folks who say they want a fiscal conservatism, and think having a Democrat Pres and Democrat Congress is going is a good thing or a Rep Pres + Rep Congress is a good thing.
If anything should have taught us recently is that
1) most politicians are pretty much the same when it comes to managing money. Default, they all suck at spending money they don’t have.
2) the only hope we have for politicians to not spend our money (taxpayer’s money) recklessly is by virtue is that if there are enough politicians that disagree on how to spend the money over ideological/philosophical reasons, regardless of how dumb/irrelevant those reasons are.
3) sometimes one needs to vote with your pocketbook in mind versus some theoretical ideology or because you belong to a party. Those lines are pretty much blurred these days anyway.
We realized during the first 4 years that a rep pres and rep congress was a terrible thing…. Would a democrat pres + democrat congress really be good thing?
If we all vote to throw out all the incumbents out of congress such that we had a rep controlled house or senate, I’d be perfectly happy supporting Obama for instance.
Unfortunately, it looks like Obama is gonna win along with a Democrat congress. Bookmark this thread, and look back 4 years from now. Me thinks things are gonna get a lot worse.

October 3, 2008 at 1:00 PM #280170socratttParticipantThanks FLUW, I thought my mind was spinning in circles! I am a young whipper snapper trying to divulge all this information and for some reason I just fail to understand where everything is going right now. I have been watching CNN today and they are really negative on this bill, yet they praise Obama and Biden and not once have the mentioned that Democrats were overwhelmingly in favor of this bill.
I get really frustrated with voters who are completely sold because of the media. The media has created a virtual angel out of Obama and frankly it scares the daylights out of me. We are definitely in for some crazy times. A friend mentioned BBC’s front page of their website this morning had a photo of the sun setting on the Statue of Liberty, saying “The end to the US Supremecy”. Pretty freaky if you ask me!!

NOTE: this isn’t my endorsement for backing McCain either. Frankly, I’m now undecided. Both backed the bailout bill, and who knows, maybe a significant number of incumbents in congress are going to be thrown out this time. If the democrats lose congress, I’ll probably switch votes for obama. I know, I’m complex.
Really, I’m not a political person. Just trying to protect my wallet (to an extent) π
And gosh, don’t let what folks write on a blog persuade you one way or the other π
