This went into “Pending” status today. When I looked at the property, there were four big trucks in the driveway of the rental house described above double-parked. There aren’t FOUR spaces, there are two.
5892 Madra had nice views but an akward entrance with an extra parking space right by the front door. The house was a mess with the kitchens and bathrooms needing updating. There was a portable sauna in the master bedroom! Weird. The house has a lot of potential but I wasn’t interested even as the price went down because of the neighboring “mini-dorm” not to mention the halted construction project next door with plywood siding and broken windows (no progress in three years!).
The price was getting much more reasonable, though.

How does the city correct that? Zillow prices 5886 Madra at 1.1 million for 2900 sq ft, so it should be priced much higher than that if the square footage is 3800.

March 27, 2008 at 2:43 PM #177198KamFongasChinHoParticipantThese home sellers on Dwane Ave in Del Cerro seem delusional. $1 million plus for these mediocre homes? And if someone could rent a million dollar property for $4500 a month (which is outrageously high, I agree) why buy? Many of the homes have been on the market for a long time, when is it going to occur to them that there’s been a titanic shift in the San Diego market? Flippers pushed prices too high and Del Cerro like all the rest of the neighborhoods that were pushed higher either directly by speculators or indirectly through “comps” of other areas. How long can these home sellers wait out the market? You’d have to be borderline retarded or too rich for your own good to offer anything close to asking price in this area. Unless the sellers win the game of chicken we’ll soon see foreclosures by the people selling who are in over their heads. Then the banks will price these homes to sell.
