Partypup I’m confused. The OP shows your alarm about the airborne nature of this flu, your belief that we should wear masks, it escaped from a lab, that it’s “the first ever bird-pig-human” form of this virus… Now you’re saying your real cause for alarm was the world’s reaction to the news. If you really want to know the answer to why the news is stirring things up, you only need look in the mirror and ask why you’re trying to do the same thing here on the blog. Are you part of a conspiracy?
Aw Nost, don’t be confused. Let’s see if we can clear all this up for you. I think the problem is that you seem to think that just because I believe the media is creating a frenzy over this virus means that I completely disregard the risk of the virus. But you don’t seem to realize that the two are not mutually exclusive. The chances from dying of a snake bite if I’m near a hospital are pretty damn low, so the risk is relatively minimal. But that doesn’t mean I don’t mind being bitten; I still prefer to avoid the risk altogether. I know – crazy, right?? I’m sorry you think that my attempts to evade the first-ever strain of a virus somehow make me part of a conspiracy – which is actually confusing to me since I explained that my concern came more from a place of wanting to protect a newborn child from ANY illness. But hey, you feel free to tangle with this thing on this round and let us know how it works out for you. Say, if the flu leaves you feeling like a million bucks, I might just throw caution to the wind and go to the next Stones concert without my hand sanitizer! LOL.
Oh, and I’m guessing from your post that you’ll be first in line for the “vaccine”…?

April 28, 2009 at 9:26 AM #388711nostradamusParticipantI think you misunderstood me completely. My point was, IMO you act almost prophetic but then change your prophecies retroactively to match the facts as they arrive. You’d make an excellent lawyer-cum-politician.
At least you didn’t come back with any ostrich head-in-the-sand analogies about how I’m not thinking because I’m not as schizophrenic as some. I would have bet on this response.
Anyhow, take care of that sweet baby! Don’t make him too nervous in life or too sheltered.

April 28, 2009 at 9:56 AM #388745blahblahblahParticipantHasn’t this all happened before? Maybe we should listen to a physician and legislator who remembers the last time we had a big swine flu scare…
