Dana Point

I currently live in Northern California and am contemplating second home in Dana Point and ultimately retiring there.
I camped at Doheny, San Onofre, and San Clemente as a kid growing up in Inland Empire.
There isn’t any Orange County Piggington equivalent but I figured some here would be able to give me some insight. My price target is $500000. I kind of like the Lantern District. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

The Lanterns definitely have character but I’ve never lived in that part of town. Some locals have expressed concern about crime in parts of the Lanterns. Of course that’s all relative to the rest of Dana Point 🙂 I can say that parking is pretty tight and there are constant plans to “redevelop” both PCH/Del Obispo and the harbor to their full revenue-generating potential, i.e. turn the place into another Laguna Beach.
