If this was a thread about cars, it would be about how some folks would call a Ferrari a piece of shit because it has a $200k price tag and surprising it doesn’t have a “higher quality” 4 cylinder engine from a 1989 Toyota Camry…
ltsdd.
Thank you for stepping up and allowing me to pass the olympic torch to you.
I’m going to get my nice bag of popcorn and just watch it from the sideline.
May the force be with you….
interesting…I am just throwing random stuff out there. Doesn’t take much to get a response.
I think Rich should buy you, BG and masayako a beer or two. I think you guys have single handedly generated more posts during the last fews days than the entire forum has for the whole year.
There’s an entire history on these sort of posts. Might want to refresh with the Mira Mesa thread…I think that one ended at page 8
Rich still owes me a commission for the first 4 installments of the piggington weekly. But since, I wasn’t ever paid, it was cancelled.
Too many darn lizards and walls in stucco boxes.May 5, 2015 at 10:58 AM #785852JazzmanParticipant
Who wants to be in a gated prison with an HOA, cameras, and security guards? I wonder if the gates are to keep the riff-raff out or the residents in.
I’d sooner move to San Quentin. At least room and board are free and it has great views of San Francisco Bay.
San Quentin will probably be expensive condos someday, so your wish may well come true.May 5, 2015 at 11:18 AM #785855JazzmanParticipantI must admit that some of these newer homes do look nice. They are architecturally pleasing, with well thought out interiors. But that is a lot of money to live in ‘lizard land’ as BG puts it. I also think adobe style homes look so much more as ease in arid, semi desert environments than these neo-classical/traditional homes, which beg to be surrounded by trees and blooming gardens.

neo-classical would be palladian or Greco-Roman inspired.
Spanish/Moorish/southern Italian with outdoor living courtyards works well in arid climate. Developers are doing more of that.
But western American architecture of exposed steel, concrete, cinderblocks would work nicely. We see that more these days.
Civita in Mission Valley is pretty good for a masterplanned community.
This is a good talk on architecture:
May 5, 2015 at 9:13 PM #785873anParticipantThis would put to shame the tract house we’re talking about here… http://www.zillow.com/homes/1772-vassar-ave,-mountain-view,-ca_rb/
How does $1.6M for 1798 sq-ft sound? Keep in mind, the school is CRAP too. Similar house in MM would cost you ~$550k. Google better be paying $300k for entry level… LoL.
If you want better school, you can get this super deal: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/55-Chester-Cir-Los-Altos-CA-94022/19526609_zpid/
$2M for 1630 sq-ft. Or for $2M, you can live in La Jolla with Ocean View and 3739 sq-ft: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-150016167-5802_Sagebrush_La_Jolla_CA_92037
May 5, 2015 at 10:27 PM #785874CoronitaParticipantLol…Come on now, AN… Everyone knows that if you’re into the Carmel Valley schools, you aren’t going to be looking in Mountain View or Los Altos… You’re going to be looking in Cupertino… Bring your $2million cash for a 2600sqft McMansion……..
Because a 2600 sqft SFH will feel like a McMansion when $1million will only buy you a CONDO
BTW: 1800sqft home in Santa Clara now rents for about $4000/month….
May 5, 2015 at 10:33 PM #785875anParticipantI was comparing Mt. View with MM, not CV. Even then, it’s not a fair comparison either, since MM schools would blow away Mt. View schools. But both are close to a lot of tech companies.
I know Cupertino has better schools, but Los Altos schools are quite good too. So, it’s not that far fetch of a comparison. Like I’ve been saying, to maintain the same living standard, bay areas companies would have to pay me 3x my current income. Yet, they’re only paying 20-25% more. They do give a much bigger sign on bonus though. But even then, it’s not enough.
May 5, 2015 at 10:41 PM #785876CoronitaParticipantI think we should add homes from Vancouver,BC too…
May 5, 2015 at 10:42 PM #785877anParticipantLoL… $2.8M for 3400 sq-ft tract home in Cupertino: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20615-Rodrigues-Ave-Cupertino-CA-95014/19634856_zpid/
or $1.3M for 3300 sq-ft tract home in CV: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-150017579-4695_Whispering_Woods_Ct_San_Diego_CA_92130

What? No Ivy League lizards and walls not constructed by Ivy Leaguer?. Not acceptable… Sorry, I’ll pass.

That’s actually a nice home. I think my cousin lives in that community. I think he bought it for $1million awhile ago.
