Why is sling not a contender.
Just curious how the other services are better?December 13, 2016 at 8:10 PM #804489moneymakerParticipantI heard slingtv and netflix are becoming dish and cable friendly, they will all be partnered up soon, maybe!
December 13, 2016 at 10:08 PM #804490FlyerInHiGuestI have slingtv and I’m happy. I don’t need dvr, so maybe that’s the missing feature. But you can watch some stuff on delay.. but not sure what. Don’t watch much but good service to have at multiple locations with 3 simultaneous streams allowed.
April 6, 2017 at 4:04 PM #806241FlyerInHiGuestGoogle is now in steaming business. I’m happy to see options.
I have Sling at my vacation rental and the guests needed to watch march madness on cable. They did not complain about the streaming service. So some sports fans are fine with it.

September 28, 2017 at 11:45 AM #808001FlyerInHiGuestRoku lPO on nasdaq today. Happy to see alternatives to cable.
BTW, SlingTV now allows virtual DVR. My niece at college can to use the service.September 28, 2017 at 12:45 PM #808002spdrunParticipantRoku is silly. Most of the “free” content is available for free via HDTV and an antenna. The paid content is available for less elsewhere.

Not if you’re old and don’t want to bother looking for content.
You have to realize that millions of people are used to cable and it’s hard for them to change. Even changing input is hard for them. I bought roku TV for my elderly relatives. One remote only.
Lots of stupid people out there. Why do you think they rent the cox “panoramic wifi” router? They can just buy a router and be free of monthly charges, but they believe the marketing.

Heh. Calling Roku owners stupid, a new low for you.
If you cheap-asses want to save a few bucks spending hours searching for how to can get free shit, be my guest.
We get all the content we want for about $20/mo via Hulu and Netflix on Roku which saves us about $150/mo over our old cable bill. Roku costs me zero – zip – nada. It is Hulu and Netflix that cost the $20/mo.
I see that the two folks on here that think the perfect life is jobless sitting on their butt would hunt down every way they can to keep costs close to zero, I just think you’ve chosen the wrong path in life, as unfulfilling and empty as sitting in prison. I won’t go so far as to call you an idiot, though, as I have a little more class.
September 29, 2017 at 7:38 PM #808022FlyerInHiGuestHaha, I myself have Roku, Sling, Netflix, Amazon which I share with my brothers to keep costs down.
I have also have an Apple TV. I bought it for the NHK TV app and to play with Apple HomeKit. Maybe Roku has the app now.September 30, 2017 at 12:43 PM #808024spdrunParticipantIf you cheap-asses want to save a few bucks spending hours searching for how to can get free shit, be my guest.
Considering I watch less than an hour a day of TV, I don’t spend “hours.” I do have a Netflix sub, but it’s not $20/mo, not even $10.
BTW – if one wants to go that way, entering a title into the Pirate Bay is as easy as searching on Netflix.
January 22, 2018 at 10:54 AM #809099FlyerInHiGuestI have been watching the Tribeca Shortlist on Sling/Roku. Many films are not available on Netflix. Excellent channel. Watched The Pianist yesterday. After watching the movie I have more love for immigrants. I want to welcome all refugees to our country.
