ParticipantGreat idea about the Alaska Airlines Visa! My family lives in the PacNW, so this makes total sense. Also my cousin is a pilot for them!
Also good info about the ATM. I’ve always done currency exchange at the banks but an ATM makes sense.
I found out the hard way about calling your CC companies when traveling abroad. I was in Japan in 1996 and went to pay my hotel bill. All of my cards had been put on hold! Except….Amex. Whew! Now I’m very good about calling them.

ParticipantWe use the Amazon Visa quite a bit.
For every $2500 you put on it, they send you a $25 Amazon gift certificate.
With such a wide variety of stuff available on Amazon, we usually have no problem finding something on there that we were going to buy anyway, in essence getting it for free.
Basically, that’s giving you 1% back in a semi-liquid form, and they give you 3% on things you purchase at Amazon and 2% back for certain gas stations and restaurants. No annual fee.
