good idea jp. A balcony/deck with stairs going up sounds nice.
Maybe jwizzle wants a deck over a hillside.
About the gate, Phil is very nice. If you live in OC, he will install the gate for you. But he can build and you install yourself.
Not sure what he charges these days but he’s cheap compared to the commercial gate companies. He does craftmanship woodworking as a hobby.

Well, I got a recommendation for this guy who does odd jobs on the side. He has his GC license and specializes in framing and large remodels. I only used him for a gate, but I gotta say this guy was great. Polite, professional, showed up on time, reasonable rates, etc. I almost hate to tell anyone else about him because my house needs plenty of work! Seriously, here is his contact info.
