Credit Unions are generally VERY conservative with their money. For years, SDCCU wouldn’t even approve me for a car loan and their mortgage rates are generally higher than other sources.

For the most part, I don’t think credit unions did the overlending that banks did. Also, credit unions, I believe don’t qualify for tarp (though I stand to be corrected on that)…..Not that credit unions aren’t trying to get tarp funding….
