Sorry Russell, I couldn’t resist … Just a little n’hood trash talking. All in good fun, I promise.
Some redfin searching for you, Scarlett.
Comp for a typical nice canyon home (sold 10/1009 $525K):
http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Diego/4466-Mount-Lindsey-Ave-92117/home/4960341These are going to be a stretch for you if you are really limited to $500K. Probably not going to happen. But if you find one, it will tempt you.
Ugly house on a nice lot – sold for $525:
http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Diego/4609-Mount-Armet-Dr-92117/home/4967487This could be nice if you can stretch for the canyon:
http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Diego/4584-Mount-Henry-Pl-92117/home/4961619If you don’t the homes below, you’ll never like Clairemont most of Clairemont. Very close to shopping. Super freeway access in all directions. These are a little on the small side (both home and lot):
For $100K less, you get alot less space. http://www.redfin.com/search#lat=32.81667353575985&long=-117.19448804855346&market=socal®ion_id=38117®ion_type=2&sf=1,2,3,4&sold_within_days=365&v=5&zoomLevel=16
Way overpriced:
http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Diego/4951-Mount-Harris-Dr-92117/home/4960974Small house, big lot. Cheap but a bit of a fixer. Gonna be hard to sell w/ all that clutter:

Issues with it – dated interior, on a feeder street. (Not *the* main drag of UC – but definitely a busier street that feeds a sub-neighborhood.)I know of a house that might be priced in your range, that should be listed in the next few days – (friends just had their offer accepted on another house)… I don’t know the price yet – but I’ll pm you the link if it meets your criteria. It’s a nice house – nicely updated. Only reason their moving is the backyard wouldn’t accomodate a pool.

May 29, 2010 at 10:42 AM #556670ScarlettParticipantThanks sduuude and UCGal for the links. I am going to have to drive by those places in Clairemont to get a better feel, otherwise I am ok with the houses if they are updated. I liked the houses on the canyon, and low 500s is definitely doable. re: UC home that closed for 515K – it was overpriced in the begining and didn’t sell.
