Clairemont most desirable areas

Too far away. I don’t want to spend any more than 20-30′ at rush hour commuting to downtown La Jolla. Life – especially with kids – is too short. Poway even is too far away. I’d go as far as Rancho Penasquitos or even Carmel Mtn. Ranch but that’s it – on 56. And it’s way too hot inland – at least in Poway. It was hotter than north Rancho Bernardo where we lived – and hated the commute to LJ. The inventory in PQ is ridiculous, BTW which is why are looking at decent alternatives at ~500K such as Mira Mesa, Clairemont. UC, LJ (townhomes), Carmel Valley (townhomes) – in general too expensive and too small for the price we want to pay. 4S – hot and I don’t like the MRs.

I don’t know much about Mira Mesa, Scarlett.Apparently we would be talking about relatively equal terms ,price and housing stock, there though. The other people here can help you weigh that. I understand commutes are a drag, especially if and when the kids are not with family. I didn’t read this entire thread, is Poway out of the question? It is not on the top of my list but I feel it is much less hectic than Clairemont on the street level and you have the schools. Sddddude mentioned Tierrasanta.Could be an option. Not sure that does it as much as maybe San Carlos. Even the lower quality housing stock there comes with a more tranquil overall setting. Mount Helix might work but it may be a fixer/dog . Maybe not though,could be better or a no go. I haven’t comped stuff lately.
