applying for choice schools has nothing to do with home ownership… it has to do with residence… where you live – whether you rent or own.
You can absolutely apply for choice (and magnet) schools while renting.

From La Jolla Village Dr w/ Torrey Pines is at least 10′ if yu are really lucky; 15′ with no significant traffic is more the norm. I do that every day.From Clairemont, it would be probably 15′-20′ tops. You miss the 5′-10′ portion of LJ Village Dr and the winded part of torrey pines ( up to LJ Shores/Pkwy).

From La Jolla Village Dr w/ Torrey Pines is at least 10′ if yu are really lucky; 15′ with no significant traffic is more the norm. I see. In term of commute time to LJ Cove, Clairemont is much better.
