The new Chinese Mega Cities are scary.
The huge apartment blocks are ugly and 50 years from now, they’ll be huge white elephants.
I like cities that grow organically on their own. Old Shanghai is much nicer than new Pudong.
I would have to disagree (four families using one bath ect.., not how I would want to live), plus 50 years from now the Old Shanghai will have been razed and new structures built. But what I find interesting is in china, if they need inflation to ease debt, they just announce they expect 5% inflation next month, then they increases all gov workers pay by 20% (most factories magically follow), Incredible I bet the fed would love to be able to do that.
Maybe move 3 families to the new areas and rehab the old shop-house.

plus 50 years from now the Old Shanghai will have been razed and new structures built.
I hope not. They should redevelop the old areas and incorporate the old houses into new developments without tearing them down.

As far as Internet and telecom is concerned, what’s new now will be old before long.
Remember a few years ago when Cat 5 cabling was the in thing to have in your house? Now you don’t need it anymore thanks to wireless.
