If they are highschool age, then kids mostly go to private schools outside of the area.(…)So, about $1000 a month
Even at $11k, that’s ~$135k for 1 kids over 12 years (excluding pre-school and kindergarten). It would be more economical to just buy in PQ or RB if you have more than 1 kid.
I agree. UCSD Daycare and now Montessori preschool/kindergarden was/is $1000/month/kid. I am really looking forward to get rid of that and begin putting significantly more money away for retirement…

The south west houses were built in the 80s and houses north of Calle Cristobal were built in the 90s. Both group of 2000-2300 sq-ft houses have 5000+ sq-ft lot, while the Westview houses have a much smaller lot. Also, since you work in LJ, I recommend living on the West side of MM (west of Camino Ruiz). (…) The west side have a lot of canyons, so you do get quite a bit of canyon breeze
Thanks for all your input AN, I followed also other threads about MM. Thanks for making clear the differences about W and E side of MM. I haven’t looked yet at a place near Calle Cristobal, but it seems from listing pretty nice area/houses. A bit expensive, but nice. 1990s is fine. Even mid/late 80s.March 10, 2010 at 9:28 AM #523993ScarlettParticipant
For the same money, I rather get the 2000 sq-ft house in South West Mira Mesa or for a little bit more, I rather get the houses north of Calle Cristobal. I have seen enough stock in town built in 70s and I didn’t like the quality of construction at all. Why should I expect something that has another 20 years of age on top of that be any good?

Bedrooms are small, but so are kids.
Well, that may be, but, the furniture won’t fit. Have you seen the stuff at Jeromes, Ashley, Mor? Seems like they all made it for McMansions. It’s a pain to fit it all in a small room.
And, then, there is no room for kids to play in a closet-size bedroom, so you have to have/assign an extra room for that.
