No, but a big mess while other cities pick up SF/SV’s slack is for sure possible. Point being, NOTHING lasts forever.
December 2, 2013 at 8:07 AM #768655The-ShovelerParticipantI could see Apple taking a hit actually, MS windows 8 tablets and touch screen Lap-Tops are much more functional IMO.
Android SmartPhones and Cheap Tablets ($40 this week) are kind of taking over IMO as well.December 2, 2013 at 8:21 AM #768656spdrunParticipantI wish, but the baaaaa-baaaaaa sheep prefer style over functionality. It would be AWESOME if the competition would push Apple to release an iPad Pro that runs a full OS X system optimized for touch screen.
(With Terminal access and without their imbecilic app restrictions, of course!)
Also note that I’m only a fan of Android and full Windows 8, not so much RT, where M$ is trying to ape Apple with software restrictions.

Sure, and tomorrow Jesus Christ could be coming and then it will be all over anyway and a lot of people screwed, so it won’t matter anymore. Or the martians from Mars could be coming, and it’s all over too. Or you could get hit by a bus tomorrow on the way to work, and it won’t matter either…
You’re arguing for the sake of arguing even when it’s completely ridiculous basis of arguing with far flung completely unknown things that *could* happen… Really now…

There are many places in the world that were major cities (or empires) and are now just a pathetic shadow of what they once were. Nothing lasts forever.

Long before Silicon Valley is one of the major tech hub. Do you think SV will last at least as long as NYC?

December 3, 2013 at 5:08 AM #768689CoronitaParticipantFLU’s laws of relativity.
1. In any significant, detrimental event , the only thing that matters is if you are less screwed than the majority of the people that are more screwed than you.
2. Speaking of something far fetched, fiction, that remotely *could* happen in the future with no rational basis is a darn good excuse for missing/missed opportunity in the past and present.

You nailed it. I don’t see the bay area not having a major presence in tech in my life time. However, I do hope San Diego will become a major tech center someday.December 3, 2013 at 9:24 AM #768699UCGalParticipant
PS – why did they sell in CV instead of renting out their place and using it to pay expenses in the Bay Area?
They already had a rental house in San Diego (the one they owned before they moved to CV) that has long term leasors. They wanted to pull the equity out of the CV house… too much of their networth was in real estate and they wanted to diversify.

December 3, 2013 at 10:43 AM #768701SD RealtorParticipantHey FLU you should live in a cave in the hills of Temecula to avoid the impeding earthquake and subsequent Tsunami. Nobody wants to buy in CV anyway. You make it sound like it has been one of the best places in the country to buy a place over the past 30 years.
Everything is different now though so you better prep for it man!

But are the caves 15 minutes to la jolla? If not, I’d rather be in La Jolla Adjunct Santee…
