    Carlsbad Squatters?

    I toured the inside of this foreclosure during an open house about a month ago and I’m still having nightmares.

    The front doors had been kicked in and the window nearby appeared to have been punched in. Sections of the wood floor were ripped up for no apparent reason. The carpet on the staircase and throughout the upstairs looked like first graders had been using it for recess over the past couple years. The built-in BBQ in the back had been ripped out. The ancient hot tub was growing some novel bacteria and algae UCSD should take a look at. It looked like someone was making hooch in the toilets… and the list goes on.
    After a few days the listing was ‘pending’ and we thought somebody probably got it for around 400,000. It is now ‘active’ again with new front windows and doors. But no price reduction!
    Maybe the potential buyers became worried the squatters or crack dealers would come back after they repaired everything.
    It’s a shame about this house because it has a nice lot and it’s in a nice area of Carlsbad… but what a history it might have.

    It’s only worth 400k. You’ll need to put 50k into it.

    The bank is using it’s OLD value as collateral for new loans with the US treasury. The bank has zero incentive to sell it.
