Buying first home–feeling anxious

Thanks everyone for posting all of these comments. I am in the same situation as the original poster (in escrow on my first home purchase) and I am questioning everything! I feel like I am going to have a heart attack or something. I guess that feeling is normal?

When I was freaking out, everyone in my family told me stories of their freak-outs when they bought their first house in San Diego – in the 50s, 70s, etc. My grandpa said he didn’t sleep for 2 years after buying their place in Del Mar for $42k in 1971. He sleeps pretty well now.

Thanks every one for your advice and support, the seller accepted my offer. Now I am doubting myself on whether the offer is $10-$20K too generous. But I really like the place and everything about the house feels right and I plan to stay here a long time so it is OK I guess. I just need to get the loan done and I don’t expect any problem with qualifying.

Is there any government (state, local, federal) grant, tax break that I should be aware of as a first time home buyer?
