Well, it’s just the entire package. Labor issues, PR issues, people getting trampled to death during black friday. Walmart to me is is just a symbol of waste, glut, crazy consumerism to an extreme imho.
I’m with FLU on this one. I refuse to set foot in Wal-Mart.
It isn’t one thing, it’s the whole package. I dislike practically everything they – and their customers – hold dear.
Add armed robbery as one of the things that can happen at your local walmart.

June 2, 2009 at 10:20 PM #409402briansd1GuestI’ve had American, Japanese and German cars.
Japanese cars have the best fit and finish.
American trucks are good for pulling trailers but otherwise they are like driving land yachts.
German have the brand name and performance but neither the fit and finish nor the resale value (except for some Porsches).
Look at the manufacturing details and you’ll see.
Why shouldn’t we look at the world as one community and buy from those who make the best quality products at the best price?
In my mind, that’s what meritocracy is all about. May the best win.
We may want the best for our kids, but if our kids are not better than Chinese kids, then they don’t deserve more. At least economically, that makes perfect sense.
So if our kids want more, they need to work harder.
Unfortunately, American kids are lazy… It’s all Britney Spears and American Idol.

Craftsman tools
Bose
F-16s
Harley Davidsons
Bell helicopters
Sikorsky helicopters
Boeing jets
Ford trucks (they are good)
General Electric turbine engines
Viking appliances
Wolfe appliances
John Deere tractors
Caterpillar diesel engines
Jenn-Air
Calloway
Oakley glasses
You may notice that this list is mostly upper end products (not all but most). Those are the items that can generally support the margins needed to pay the local wages. I would add there are many US audio companies besides Bose (I prefer Klipsch), but they are mainly high end products. Cutco knives are good too.
