Bonita Woman Forestalls eviction – for now

I saw that on the news last night. Filner was informed the day before the rally that the bank would not be taking the house. He begruggingly admitted that later on. That rally was all pomp and show, the bank had no intention of evicting her then, and they knew it.

But now what? She quit her job, has only a passive income, and little to no spousal support (I dont know, but it doesnt sound like much). How is she gonna pay this loan back? Or just pay her bills in general?

Simple answer is she isnt.

Everything else is extend, pretend, and deny. Thanks Rep Filner for making sure this draggs on and on.

I do hope her son gets better.

When she cashed out with a refi – did she set aside money for rainy day?

I’m sorry her son is sick -but there are lots of families that deal with illnesses from a rental. I don’t see how it’s relevant to her pulling cash out of her house and then not paying the debt.

She’s not the first person I’ve seen get a divorce and try to keep a property where they had no income with which to keep it. Why didn’t she sell it instead in 2007 and split the proceeds with her ex-spouse and each of them buy or rent another property? Or allow her spouse to “cash her equity out” if he could qualify??

Being from there myself, I REPEATEDLY witnessed couples who had lived in separate parts of the house for YEARS and was always told the same thing by the `do-nothing women’ set, “I WILL NOT GIVE UP MY `LIFESTYLE’ FOR ANY REASON! When my last kid moves their (HS) graduation tassle to the other side of their head, then AND ONLY THEN, will I seek counsel to get a settlement and move out of this `sham’ arrangement, but not ONE MINUTE before that.” It always takes two to tango.

I don’t have much sympathy for that woman.

But I sympathize more with her that with the bank executives who facilitated the bubble but got to walk away with billions in the bank.
