All of the housing bubble bloggers should be commended for their efforts. They were out there putting their ass on the line trying to protect people when our own government wasn’t doing anything about this crazy housing bubble and was in fact working against us.
Thanks for fighting the good fight, OCR. You helped a lot of people, including me. [/quote]
You so have it right.
The people on here who can’t grasp that even questioning the status quo where money is involved is inherently dangerous need to get out more. Cripes and you sound like kindergartners, so pleased with yourselves to be shrieking and pointing fingers. Gah. I was looking for a BMIT substitute, but if you guys have so much time on your hands to ruin this blog, maybe I’ll hunt elsewhere.

January 21, 2009 at 4:24 PM #332631scaredyclassicParticipantI wonder if there’s a lawyer out there who would be willing to pro bono (for publciity maybe?) take on any potential lawsuit with a large contngency arrangement on a potential counterclaim. While it’s generally true that lawsuits are costly and the parties generally bear the burden of their costs, the threat of a counterclaim, particularly in a spurious lawsuit, might make people hesisate before suing without a lawyer. And if you’re a lawyer, and it’s a dopey case, unles you’re getting paid 2-300 an hour, you probably wouldn’t wanna risk your bar card pursuing an unwinnable case on the cheap. Talk to some lawyers, maybe in the real estate field who are suing mortgage brokers or similar work, maybe they’d take it on.

January 21, 2009 at 5:08 PM #332671CricketOnTheHearthParticipantHey, OCRenter:
Thanks for all you did. Yours was one of the first RE blogs I hooked up with, after Patrick’s very good site linked to all of them. I counted it amongst the “A-List” with Piggington, Mish, Of Two Minds, and Calculated Risk.
Yours especially I found soothing, reassuring and steadying when I was furious at my crappy dwelling situation and furious that I couldn’t afford anything better. You showed me that no, I wasn’t insane; reinforced my plan to wait and save; and let me vent-by-proxy by reading your skewerings of flippers and realtor scammers. The latter were actually the parts I enjoyed most.
Of course, when poked with a sharp stick, wolves often bite back, so I can imagine you being concerned at the reactions of some of these characters.
I wish you the best, and like the others, hope you can put the blog back up someday, even as just archives.
Unless you have to turn the files over to the FBI (which might be a good sign, actually).
