powayseller,
i thought you lived in poway (for obvious reasons). it’s not a big deal at all, but if you live(d) in lakeside shouldn’t your screen name be lakesideseller? what’s the benefit of being powayseller vs. lakesideseller? just curious.
May 3, 2006 at 12:00 AM #24920rankandfileParticipantI’m partial towards Carlsbad. In North County it has the reputation as being a well-put-together City. They have a long coastline and some of the finest beaches around. There is a more family-oriented feel there and the beaches aren’t crowded with transients, young drunks, homeless, etc. They have a bit of an artsty feel in the Village area, but not quite as much as Encinitas. Then again, the “artsiness” of a town is not a huge selling point with me. Some of the eastern parts of Carlbad, like east La Costa or Calavera Hills would be a good option for me. Great schools, less overcast, mild temperature, nice infrastructure (roads, buried utility lines, etc), secluded feel.
As for Poway, too hot for me. I used to go there a number of years ago to get my hair cut at Sal’s, who was Vietnamese and not Italian. I also worked with the City government there at my old company. We used to call them PO-way as in they’re too poor to pay their contracts on time. No offense Powayseller! Other than that I’m sure it’s a fine town.

May 3, 2006 at 5:58 AM #24923powaysellerParticipantLostkitty, may I take this moment to thank you for sticking up for me, and keeping our threads positive.
May 3, 2006 at 6:07 AM #24924powaysellerParticipantNo offense taken, but I need to update, in this 2004 article:
“Poway has a history of maintaining a balanced city budget and consistently putting away money in savings.
The city’s ability to continue the pattern is particularly significant, though, in a year in which financial problems at the state level have forced cities throughout California to make drastic budget cuts.
Many municipalities are struggling with budget cuts and/or with using reserve funds to cover large financial deficits. Poway city officials said they’ve managed to avoid using any of the $3.1 million the city has stashed away in an “economic uncertainity” fund.”

A substantial number of the topics are started by you, and yet people continue to berate you for the amount of time you spend here, your motivation for posting here, etc etc etc… it is tiring.
I, for one, have learned a great deal not only from your research and opinions, but also from opposing comments by those who respond to your topics… I am stunned at the way you have become a target.
Keep up the interesting posts. I not only learn from them, but enjoy them as well.
May 3, 2006 at 4:44 PM #24935daveljParticipanti didn’t see the earlier thread on the topic (hell, i don’t even know if she rents or owns – i’ve just assumed that she recently sold a house in poway based on her screen name)… bottom line, if her mailing address is/was poway, she’s powayseller, if her mailing address is/was lakeside, she’s lakesideseller. again, it’s no big deal, but if her mailing address is/was lakeside, then lakesideseller would be the more appropriate moniker. that’s my only point.
May 3, 2006 at 4:59 PM #24936zkParticipant“there is such diversity that more often than not, rude behavior and disorder is bred.”
Surely you’re not suggesting that diversity breeds rude behavior and disorder. Are you? As far as I’d be able to tell, diversity wouldn’t really be capable of breeding rude behavior and disorder unless it was combined with intolerance.
“Needless to say, I would not recommend this area to live in.”
Why, exactly, is that? You’re not saying that the illegals are connected to the crime, and the crime rate is lower there than in most places. So yes, apparently you do need to say. Why wouldn’t you recommend this area?
May 4, 2006 at 1:14 AM #24960rankandfileParticipantI hear you, PowaySeller. Being frugal is a smart choice. The instances I am speaking of, however, were after our company had performed contracted work for the City. We billed the City for our services and they took forever and a day to pay us for them…for no apparent reason. That’s all.
