As a Brit over here in the US who cannot vote I have become a casual observer of Republicans and Democrats. I have noticed an alarming trend. It always seems to be the Republicans at work who believe just about everything e.g. San Diego is running out of land, sky-high prices are justified because SD is a wonderful place to live etc… you know the rest… It is the democrats at work who just keep quiet or raise their eyebrows and knowingly nod to one another in quiet disbelief.
It is republicans who go to these obvious rip off seminars on how to build wealth in real estate – no doubt they go to the foreclosure sale “events” too which are becoming more common. I have no bone to pick with Republicans and I am certainly not a democrat – more a mixture of both.
I just wonder why this is? I always wondered who bought things from infomercials and I think I know now.
It is just a shame they have ruined the real estate market for everyone. Hopefully that will change soon.
republican’s began embracing the christian coalition some years back. it’s an unfortunate coincidence that christians, by virtue of their belief in fantasy rather than fact, ignore the realities, ignore the future, ignore common sense in favor of grand schemes, big prizes and pretty pictures.
they’ve done a terrific de beers’ing of america by associating christianity, consumption, egotism and nationalism as americana. “how dare you suggest that america had anything to do with vietnam?! you’re unamerican!” “how dare you suggest that real estate won’t go up forever?! you’re unamerican!” “how dare you suggest that money is not our god?! you’re unamerican!”

FormerSanDiegan is pretty spot on. This is not an issue related to Republican vs. Democrat at all. To group it as such is short-minded and just wrong. Plenty of people on both sides have engaged in these acts and I know plenty of people who claim to be “Democrats” who, when it comes to themselves, are just as greedy & selfish as any Republican.
For the record I consider myself a republican (although not a Christian Coalition Repbulican at all) and am a responsible adult with no debt and lives well below my means.
