“guilt by association” and there is a reason why someone that is an “accessory (sp?)” or “accomplice” to a crime also faces penalty. Thanks partypup, but unfortunately, I don’t believe empathy is a learned skill (at least as an adult).June 12, 2008 at 7:17 PM #222269RicechexParticipantWow Partypup! Let’s hope that Obama can live up to his promise. And let’s hope that we Americans can help him live up to it.
One thing I’d like to see his leadership accomplish is for it to help us to drift away from this “one side against the other” mentality that pervades this country, as illustrated on this forum. It’s our country, and we apparently all love it. But fighting each other accomplishes nothing to make it a better country. If we Americans, politicians especially, took all the time and energy that we spend bickering with and attacking each other and trying to spin things our way and spent it on seeing our problems as they are (not spinning), rationally discussing them and coming up with solutions for them, we might have a shot at turning this country around sooner rather than later.
