Autocad to lightwave or softimage ect

Is it possible to make a 3d model in autocad and have it rendered in lightwave or softimage?

I would like to make a model that I can apply skins to to see how it looks before having some parts c&cd.

Or can skins be applied to an autocad model?

I would say yes, it should be possible. You may need to export the model as IGES or another format that both application can read. You could render in 3d studio max that is also made by autodesk.
