I knew.
When I was a kid, we used to go to the Bell store to rent phones made by Western Something. Then the FCC allowed customers to buy their own phones.
I told my nieces about the days before broadband. And they looked at me really strange, like really? How could that be?
yeah I remember my dad being really pissed off when I was a kid that he couldn’t buy his own phone, had to rent from ATT or whatever it was called then. Now you can’t hardly find those phones although they were really good phones that would’ve probably lasted 100 years+. Soon no one will have a landline because of the telemarketers ruining it for everyone and the government not doing anything about it. I really should give mine up along with my flip phone but I just ignore the telemarketers and tell myself the flip phone is for emergencies! LOL!
My theory is anytime a company pisses off customers it eventually bites them in the butt.
The good quality rental phones are easily found on EBay and pretty darn cheap. Search for “AT&T 2500”, “WECO 2500”, or “Western Electric 2500” for the touch-tone models. The rotary phones are model 500.
Quality wise, I don’t think so, spdrun. Sound quality is better over FaceTime or Skype.
Skype is great if you like audio compression. Not being an Apple drone, I don’t use Fecetime much.
