ParticipantThe information about VA mortgages doesn’t match up with what I’ve read elsewhere — my understanding is that they can be assumed by non-veterans with decent credit, and that VA will grant a release of liability to the original buyer.
Of course it’s better to have the loan assumed by an eligible veteran as this restores your own eligibility for future reuse.
