I know you all have quite a professor in Prof. Piggington, but I just wanted to let you know about a feature I’m launching in my Survival in San Diego blog tomorrow: “Savvy & Sage: Tips on Buying and Selling in 2009.”

Our first guest host will be Leonard Baron, a real estate professor at San Diego State University and principal of LPB Services, a real estate consulting firm.

Baron promises to share some of the stuff he teaches his SDSU students. He has years of experience buying, selling, rehabbing and renting out residential properties. He currently owns four properties and is hoping to buy three or four more in the next six months.

Whether you’re looking to buy, thinking of selling or just trying to figure out some aspect of a real estate transaction, here’s your chance to ask. During the recent rent survey, the rent decreased for the first time in a long time. I want to know, if this is the beginning of a new downward trend in the rental market. In his opinion, is the rent decrease caused by the first time home buyers are jumping into the market to buy their homes due to the incentives offered and low mortgage rate?
