A proposed group home for the mentally disabled has residents at Bressi Ranch pitted against advocates of fair, mainstreamed housing for the disabled.
A well known housing advocate from Escondido summed up the controversy.
“My momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where the go, where they’ve been. I was running over in Bressi ranch yesterday and those people over in Bressi Ranch wear some awful shoes. In fact, their shoes smell awful bad. I’ve worn lots of shoes, I bet if I think about it real hard I can remember my first pair of shoes”. Mr. F Gump of Escondido.
