I had a client who just used SDCCU and he was satisfied with them. To be honest I would sample opportunities from everyone… banks, credit unions and even independent mortgage brokers.

HUD closing costs were not discrepant from GFE which is not always the case – several years ago I got burned by final closing costs!
SDCCU will require you to open $400. checking acct. ($350. non-refundable for home inspection; $50. for acct) –
non-issue since I closed with them.April 16, 2008 at 9:47 PM #188840rbeastParticipantYes, they were most competitive compared to 4-5 Costo Lending Tree people (cash card isn’t worth it); Citimortgage (prior lender); MissionFCU & other local mortgage brokers.

You may also want to check ingdirect. I heard good things about them and their rates are very close to SDCCU. (Until a year or so ago they were lower than SDCCU.)
