I agree with CaRenter
“IMHO, they won’t publicize the renewal until the first tax credit expires. If they pre-announced it, people would stop buying right now in anticipation of a bigger, better credit next year.”Since sports analogies seem to work around here. I would call it a game of momentum. They have so much momentum right now! Just look at the charts Rich posted.
If they announced it right now, the momentum would switch to the other team. The Govt has scored touch down after touch down this year. They are not going to hand over the ball just yet. Especially when everyone is putting in their highest and best to close before Nov 30th.September 14, 2009 at 2:12 PM #457097propertysearchaddictionParticipantI agree with CaRenter

But remember that many football teams are hurting right now as blackout rules mean that alot of games will not be broadcast in home markets as tickets are not selling out.
They should make a ‘sportsfan stimulus II’, where by you could add it to the cost of any season tickets, so that games can be broadcast in home markets. Just think of all the $10 beers and $7 hotdogs that will not be sold if they don’t. Or the $40 parking fees. Besides, most cities with teams have reviune shareing agreements with the cities, who will take in less $$ if fewer tickets are sold. So we will also bail out the large public subsidies of very profitable enterprises, bailing out our bailouts.
I mean what good are new TV’s and nice couches and diabetes inducing food consumption without chearing on which ever team I choose? I will feel some slight emotional pain by not being able to watch the chragers each week, and obviously it is the governements duty to make sure I feel none of it, getting what I want, when I want, how I want, and only paying what I want.

September 14, 2009 at 2:33 PM #456518CA renterParticipant
I think there should be a credit extended for watching football on Sunday.
Call it the sportsfan of america economic stimulus package. This money will be well reinvested by consumers in cable or satellite football packages, pizza, beer, chips, sodas, consumer electronics, etc.
You can also attach it to cash for your crappy tv iniative to buy a new flatscreen.
Then we will initiate a cash for crappy couches as well so places like Jeromes will thrive!
Mr. CAR thinks you are a pure genius, SDR. π
[edit] He also thinks there should be a fishing stimulus package, as the sportfishing industry is really hurting right now, and sure could use some stimulus thrown in their direction.
