Wow almost worth moving LOL.
May 13, 2020 at 12:42 PM #817234FlyerInHiGuestI encourage Californians to move. They bring some California with them which is good for the other states.

If I understand your situation correctly you do not live in CA or pay taxes here.
I don’t think you are in position to say what CA should or should not do.
Yes, I live in California part-time, almost full time, and I pay taxes on California income and property. I am in San Diego right now.
I don’t like anywhere cold. In the USA, Hawaii and California are the 2 best states. Nevada is just 1 hour’s flight away. And maybe Elon Musk will build a hyper loop or Richard Branson a HSR.
That said, Colorado is cool for the ski. I’m still slim and athletic enough to ski the black diamond slopes. But Utah is where I now go for winter sports — closer and Mormon hospitality is excellent.

It’s at least worth considering taking up a residence there so you can register cars that normally won’t pass CARB 🙂
500+hp, weight distribution 1% more up front at 53%/47%, 2600 lbs with a tank of gas…about the same weight as an FRS. It’s as close to a tubular kit car a real production car is going to get
Price is kinda steep..It’s $50k plus you need to provide a Miata chassis, which will.run about $15-20k. So about a $70k kit car that could be daily driven. The used price of a C7 Z06 is around $50+60k and CA and street legal. So…… Not many people want to pony up to build one..I would one, lol.
There’s a 430 hp version that is CARB legal in first generation Miata, but many people do that. If I can find a cheap enough NA Miata and cheap enough used LS1 motor, that might be my next project.

I’m liking Elon Musk more and more each day. Hard working , smart, a doer not a talker, unlike politicians.
yeah well try growing up with a name like X AE A-12
The dumbest damn thing I’ve heard of, and I’m in favor of unique names.
The problem is this kid will forever be re-explaining to every clerk every time he fills out a form that yes, that is actually his name and no he didn’t misread the form. It will get very, very old very quickly. Some databases may not even be able to take some of those characters in the name field. That will lead to mismatches in records being flagged as errors and he’ll have to explain to a thousand companies and agencies what happened. I would not be surprised to see him legally change his name when he’s able.
Hell, I have enough trouble with my name and it just contains letters in the alphabet. I grew so tired of issues and re-explaining that I’ve come up with a simpler name that my friends use.
So Elon’s kid can go by X, but that doesn’t help him much with documents asking for a legal name.

I dunno…she could marry a man named Rich or King or… Farrow.
Reminds me of when I got engaged…I told my wife I wouldn’t object if she decided to continue going by her maiden name which I thought was quite nice…her respond: eff no! I’m ditching that thing! I was shocked. All in perspective I guess. It had insinuations as to her shape – and she was shapely – and she was sick of being teased about it.
I do think Elon’s son will eventually be writin’ a song…

Sometimes when one gets married, one’s maiden name ends up their middle name. So I guess in case of my.clsssmate, her name could have ended up
Mia Ho Rich.
Or sometimes as it’s printed
Rich, Mia Ho.

Guilty! Got lucky and made a killing on our SEH home before selling last year, concerned about economic fundamentals and have resolved to renting in Carlsbad while the kids finish school and go off to college. Since we can’t family travel like we’d hoped, considering a cabin up in the mountains as a weekend getaway.

Good job resisting the Denver urge and making that killing though I think you probably wouldve done just as well down the hill and perhaps still be there. Hindsight though is tough. Hope all is well with you and the family:)
