Columbia Crest always seems to make pretty good wine under $10. Found Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 at Costco for $7.99 I think, now I have to go back and buy a case of it. Smooth but will get you relaxed.
Ravenswood Zinfandel. Always delicious and I’ve been able to buy it at Vons for about $5 at times. Just came back from book club – someone brought expensive wine but it was wasted on me …
In case you didn’t read it all the way through, that “article” was an April Fools’ joke. We still have our “Two Buck Chuck,” (though I think it’s a bit more expensive these days) 🙂
Wish I could find the article (and please post if you have it), but basically the $2 chuck was presented to a wine reviewer as part of a blind test. He rated it the lowest. The presenter then said to the reviewer, “Does it change your opinion if I tell you that this wine is only $2?” His response: “People actually pay $2 for this stuff?”
You can probably guess I’m not a fan 🙂
To the other recommendations I’d add that for less than $6 you can get a Cameron Hughes Pinot Noir at Costco. Very good.
cheap $2 wine is great for cooking wine on the cheap. Or making sangria mixed wine cooler type drinks. Just like I use a large cheapo $3 bottle of tequila for making chile and mexican carnitas.
