Brian, I live in Chula Vista, which, incidentally, has MUCH higher scores for the “Hispanic” population than these other “coveted” schools can seem to muster. What does that tell you about the teachers in these “top schools,” overall?? WHO exactly are they “catering to” all day??

I’m sorry, AN. I don’t understand this. Can you elaborate on this “inside road” option?
In your first link, I assume from the new construction area the OP is considering, his spouse can take the “service road” from Carmel Valley to/from work (alongside I-5), and arrive at UCSD quickly, assuming she works in the northern part of the campus.
My experience with a popular “service road” in South County (Nat’l City) is that it is congested with drivers all trying to go north in the am’s and all trying to re-enter the SAME I-5 entrance ramp during the rush hours.

Looking closer, I was wrong about that surface road. It’s a restricted road w/ guard towers. So yeah, you’d be screwed if there’s a big traffic accident around the Sorrento Valley exit.December 22, 2010 at 12:05 AM #643567anParticipant
