If I was to add on a 50k addition would my property tax value go up 50k or would the entire property be reappraised for tax purposes? Right now our taxes are “relatively” low and I would not want them to go up 200k which is what would happen on a new appraisal or if we were to move. The 50k is just a number I pulled out of thin air, I have no idea how much the add on would really cost.
Your tax assessment would be on the additional $50k
If you add a family room, I would think it would be more like $100k unless you can be your own contractor.
If I were you I’d pull the permits for the addition and get it done, inspected and assessed. Then I’d take care ithe remodeling such as kitchens and baths after.
