Guido and I are in a bind. We gave notice on our current rental home and are set to move into a great new rental on Friday. The owner of the new house is a really nice guy, but a bit of a “whatever dude” type. He’s done all sorts of extra things for us to get the house ready, putting in special safety windows for the kids and a cute little picket fence by the pool.
However, while he’s done all of these extras, he’s neglected to do the necessities to get the house ready for the move, like fixing and filling the empty pool and removing some of his personal junk. There’s still a bunch of lumber and nails in the back yard and he hasn’t done any of the landscaping that he promised would be done by this Friday.
I don’t want to be harsh because he has done a lot of extra stuff that he didn’t have to do (and he’s given us a couple of pieces of really nice furniture), but we have to move in in four days. We’ve given him all sorts of hints that he needs to get the work done, but every time we go back some non-essential “extra” has been done instead of the real work.
I was thinking of telling him that we’ll extend our stay in our current home to give him some extra time, but that’s no guarantee that the work will be done either. Any suggestions?
