‘I’m a really caring person,’ we say, a phrase that means precisely nothing other than that we burden ourselves with the problems of others with no practical beneficial effect whatsoever. Talk of being caring is cant.”
I love that line… Caring means precisely nothing. But in reading the rest of it, I see why I scratch my head at some of your posts scardy. Jesus man, that excerpt of “Freedom Manifesto” borders on conspiracy theories galore.
I felt a little imbarised asking the barns and noble gal if they had it…. Now I see why.

December 20, 2010 at 7:18 PM #642811DooohParticipant
It seems like nobody is in favor of a semi- retired 33 year old with kids and no mortgage? I wonder if he asked his kids what they would say?
Do you want daddy and mommy to have a ton of time for you, or do you want them to make more money?
Bingo! We’ve held off on kids while our peers popped them out. The plan was to make as much as possible before we had our first one. I hated going to the babysitters in elementary school. I wasn’t passing that family tradition on. We accomplished that plus a little.
That said were shooting for a oct nov 2011 sack of taters if all goes well this month or next. Side note, a woman off of birth control is a beautiful thing. Seriously, confidence and spunk are back! I love it.

December 20, 2010 at 7:32 PM #642816HobieParticipantWooah. No kids yet. All bets are off. Keep the job. You will need it.
You cannot predict what your wife will say once you have kids. Trust me on this, they change. Living a nomadic life with young kids is not for everyone. Keep the job while your skills are peaked. Can you say nesting?
