Cool house. Might be hard to heat with all that glass and vertical space. Kitchen looks like an afterthought.
dunno about that area. Price seems good. Tough call.
and ya gotta ask yourself, will that kind of architecture eventually wear on ya? funky is cool until it isn’t.
if it was on 10 acres in the country you could gaze upon the wonders of nature. whereas, with those windows you will be wondering who is gazing upon you?
good luck.

March 9, 2009 at 12:57 PM #362740creechrrParticipantI grew up near to Encanto in Paradise Hills but, spent time in the area with friends and family.
Gang/thug activity has decreased greatly since I was in highschool (’94 grad). Encanto and the surrounding area is actually pretty quiet most of the time. The general rule is latino gangs punk try to punk latinos just as black gangs try to punk other blacks. Inter-race gang banging is usually pretty rare.
I’d be more concerned about random auto thefts and break-ins. However, with the economy in the toilet we’re going to see more teenagers and 20 somethings hanging out with nothing to do and everyone needs to eat. So, I’d expect crime of all sorts to increase in the near future throughout the county.
I can’t totally disagree with esmith’s reasoning although I’m not sure if he was implying some sort of racial inferiority.
From experience kids growing up on the lower end of the econ scale usually have more to worry about than grades. For myself and many of my friends had times where food, shelter, and SDGE were at the top of the list. Also, on occasion the children are earners by whatever means are available to them at that time.
Also, schools are only a part of the equation. The parents need to take an action role in their childs education.
Black, White, Asian, Hispanic…we’re all pretty much the same. Geniouses and idiots in all groups.

March 9, 2009 at 1:08 PM #362759urbanrealtorParticipant[quote=patientrenter]LOL! esmith and urbanrealtor: you are talking at cross-purposes. esmith says when he can’t get good stats on scholastics, but can get good stats on variables that are correlated with scholastics, he uses the other variables to estimate the scholastics.
urbanrealtor reads that esmith says that if you’re black or hispanic, or your parents are unschooled, then you’ll disrupt your schoolmates’ education. Challenges esmith to withdraw comment or be tattooed as “white male racist bigot” – and a suspected Republican to boot!
One of you needs to teach what correlation means, and the other needs to learn what it means. Good luck!

I don’t think either of us are unaware of what correlation means.
I can’t speak to esmith’s schooling but most of his arguments seem cogent. This one did not and that is why I took issue.
Speaking of myself, I have taken several postgraduate classes in statistical correlation.
Nor are either of us talking about labels.
We simply have a difference of opinion about the significance of correlation.
My problem was that saying you cant get stats on a school flies in the face of reality. Those records are easy to get but not always online.
I don’t think either of us challenged the other to withdraw a comment.
We just disputed each other’s assertions.March 9, 2009 at 1:08 PM #363054urbanrealtorParticipant[quote=patientrenter]LOL! esmith and urbanrealtor: you are talking at cross-purposes. esmith says when he can’t get good stats on scholastics, but can get good stats on variables that are correlated with scholastics, he uses the other variables to estimate the scholastics.
