I know people who wouldn’t send their kids to any school above 10%, on principle. There are people in Silicon Valley who’d turn up their noses at any San Diego high school, including Torrey Pines / Westview / La Jolla, merely by looking at demographics and STAR test results. I heard statements to the effect that San Diego is not suitable for raising children, because there’s only one high school in the whole county that is rank 10 on GreatSchools.net.
Is that good or bad? That’s debatable. But that’s a fact of life.
