Yes yes, and the problem with most SUV/CUV drivers is that frankly most people still drive them like cars. If it were up to me, I would pass a law tha makes SUV's have a different class of licenses, because the vehicles are clearly heavier than sedans.
But like someone says, there are two classes of SUV's now. One is based on car platforms that generally sit lower with a lower center of gravity.
Anyway, at least my wife knows better than do 85+ in an CUV. And frankly, it's to protect against the idiot hummer drivers that do 85 tailgating you.
Some interesting tidbits. Some larger sedans are pretty porky and weigh almost similar to SUVs. BMW 7 series, Mercedes S class, and even Audi A8's with aluminum frame weighs pretty porky.
