Yeah, all of Borat’s bizarre suspicions about Jewish people and Gypsies are actual beliefs held by people at different times in history. By putting on his “Borat” character he is able to throw these in our face and force us to confront our own prejudices. It is actually a quite subtle and clever technique although at first glance it seems horribly offensive. We feel uncomfortable yet we laugh and then we realize that we’re laughing at ourselves.
