Well, this is traditionally the time of year in retail called the “Dog Days of Summer” because it is so slow. I worked at Nordstrom all through college, and watched it every year. That is why Norstrom started doing their Anniversary and Pre-season sales in the middle of the summer – so they could drum up business.
