Well there is another thing I would add and that is these days apartments are run by large corporations who will not look at an individuals situation but rely on pristine credit scores, (that is harder and harder to come by these days), where as an individual landlord can see let say OK this guy got foreclosed on but he has steady employment etc…
Just saying there may be a lot more to these things than show up in news articles .
