well, obviously it’s illegal to poison pets. i was just being facetious. on the other hand, it would seem fair for the dog to maul you. that would not be illegal. animals cannot be held criminally responsible today. however, interestingly, in the middle ages, animals were routinely tried in the criminal courts. maybe just one testicle. or an eye.
