I just read the fine print of the stimulus package…the reason they’re waiting till May is that they are basing refund on 2007 AGI…That cuts us out…at least for the full refund. Hubby changed jobs in Jan. so we sold our stock options from old company at the end of 2007…pushes us over the full refund limit..It looks like we’ll get some percentage. Can’t tell if I’m glad we make enough to not qualify or irked that we’re right on the cusp for our “advance on a credit you’ll receive on your 2008 return” (per the CNN site). This middle class thing blows. We don’t make so much that 1200.00 (1500.00 w/ our kid) is peanuts to us but we do make enough that if we don’t get any rebate we’ll still be o.k. Granted that’s mostly because we live conservativly and sock away as much as we can while still maintaining our Netflix account (this writers strike has opened our eyes to a whole new world of entertainment – The BBC has made some great shows!)
To Diego Mamani – I’m not sure how the CC fee thing works. We’ve not owed Federal taxes ever now that I think about it. I just assumed you could pay via CC. Are there fees involved? If the fees are over 1.00 you’re right, it wouldn’t be beneficial. I’d earn say 1000 points on a 1000.00 tax bill which is 1/10 of a 10.00 gift card. Guess I’ll pay by check. That will only cost me .41 and an envelope (my checks come free from B of A cuz I’m an
ooo-la-la Premier member – ain’t I special :>) ) Thanks for the heads up on this…we’re doing our taxes this weekend to see how bad the damage is!
